Mural and Faux Pricing
Mural and faux pricing is determined by four factors:
- location
- cost of
materials
- intricacy
of design
- working
conditions
We will discuss the project at length so that you will have a
time and cost estimate. The customer will be shown sketches or samples
to determine the exact design the client wants. For faux projects,
there may be a fee for samples. Most of the materials needed to
achieve a certain faux look, cannot be purchased in small quantities.
The cost for sample materials will then be applied to the cost of
the job if contracted.
Payment:
- Once we have
reached an agreement to start your project a contract will be
presented which details work to be done and project start and
end dates.
- A 50% downpayment
will be required at the start of the project. The deposit is used
to purchase the supplies needed to complete your project and to
schedule your project.
- Once all
the work has been completed, payment in full will be expected.
The client pays for driving and lodging expenses if outside the
Tampa Bay area, except in the Orlando area. Orlando residents
only pay an additional $50.00 fee for driving expenses.
Mural Cost:
- The basic
cost for a mural runs $10-$30 per square foot.
- Prices vary
depending on the difficulty or intricacy of the design.
- There may
be additional charges depending on working conditions such as
restricted hours of operation, vaulted ceilings, cramped spaces
or driving time and distance.
- Pricing
includes all materials. However, certain items, such as specialized
equipment or scaffolding needed to complete the job will be added
to the price of the paint cost estimate.
Faux Project Costs:
- For Faux
projects, the price is determined by cost of materials and how
many passes on the wall are required to create the finished look.
Prices range from $2.00 to $10.00 per square foot.
In Preparation for Your Project:
- Before your
mural project begins it will be assumed that there is a base coat
of paint on the wall and a cleared work space.
- Please move
as much furniture as possible out of the room.
- Any prep
painting, wall patching, or wall preparation will be an additional
fee.
- Prep painting
may include filling holes in walls, texturing and putting a primer
or basecoat on the wall.
- If you have
a tight budget, to lower your costs, I suggest preparing the wall
and painting the basecoat yourself.
Children's Rooms:
- If you are
thinking about creating a theme room for your children,
or have a baby on the way, I suggest early planning. I can help
match your mural to your accessories to create the perfect
child's room.
- If you have
a 'special needs' child and can't afford a fun child's room, please
contact me, it may be possible to arrange a low-cost mural*.
Consultation Fee:
- Unfortunately
due to rising gas prices, we are forced to charge a small nonrefundable
consulting fee of $25.00. However, when you book your project
the consulting fee will be deducted from the cost of the project.
I hope this
information has been helpful to understand the work process and
pricing for mural and faux projects. I know how I feel about this
subject. I wouldn't want to meet with someone only to find out their
pricing is totally out of line with what I can afford. Please see
my
mural pricing chart to get an idea of what your mural project
will cost. Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to hear from you soon!
*Low-cost mural candidates pay only for
paint supplies and transportation costs.

How to determine square
footage:
Measure
the length and height of the wall to be painted. Multiply
both numbers together. That will give you the square footage
to be painted. To get a price estimate, multiply the square
footage times the cost per square foot. Prices range from
$10 to $30 per square foot for murals.
A
50 square foot wall at the lowest price is $500.00. At the
highest price the same wall would cost $1500.00.
Most
children's murals fall into the $10-$15 price range.
If
you know your square footage already...check our mural
pricing chart.
