How To Create A Faux Linen Look
By Silverspoonmurals.com

Faux Linen FinishTransform your plain walls and give them the rich look of texture with a faux linen finish. This is a fairly easy finish to create for the do-it-yourselfer with intermediate experience.

You will need the following tools to complete this project:

Drop cloth, stir sticks, paint tray, 9" paint roller frame with 1/4 inch nap roller cover, 2" painters tape, 2" tapered trim brush
7" linen weaver brush, lint free cloths, offwhite satin finish paint for the basecoat, yellow gold satin  finish paint to be mixed with glaze, glaze medium, level with ruler, pencil, plastic container with printed measurements

Instructions:

Step 1: Be sure to patch and sand all holes and make proper repairs to your wall before painting. Paint your walls with the off-white base coat. Make sure your tape off ceilings and baseboards and let the paint dry over night. Give the wall two coats of paint if necessary.

Step 2: Using your pencil and level mark off sections 40 inches wide. Tape the outside of every other section. If you get to a corner tape the outside corner.

Step 3: Mix three parts glaze to one part yellow gold paint. Make sure to mix well in your plastic container.

Step 4: Use a paint roller to apply a thin layer of glaze to the wall working from top to bottom. Only apply to one section at a time before moving on to the next step. The glaze must NOT dry to complete the next step.

Step 5: Using your dry linen weaver brush working from left to right, drag the brush from top to bottom. Then clean your brush with your lint free cloth wiping the excess glaze off the brush. Again drag the brush down the wall, wiping excess paint off the brush. Continue until the section is completed.

Step 6: Again using your dry linen weaver complete the section by dragging the brush horizontally from left to right. Clean the brush after every stroke. Work until you finish one section.

Step 7: Repeat this process working on the alternate sections. Make sure you remove the tape while the glaze is still wet. Let the first sections dry over night and then repeat the process section by section until you have finished your wall or walls.
