How To Make Your Own Dry Erase Board Or Wall
By Silverspoonmurals.com

Dry Erase Painted walls by IdeaPaint.comYou can now create your own dry erase boards or better yet, make an entire wall your dry erase board. All it takes is some special Dry Erase Paint and a few other supplies to create your own Dry Erase Space.

Here's what you will need:

drop cloths
painters tape
Foam Roller and extension if necessary
foam brushes
paint pan and liner
dry erase paint

Dry erase paint from IdeaPaint.com can be used on new drywall, previously painted drywall, cured plaster, blueboard, chalkboard, whiteboard or laminate. This should be painted on a flat surface so make sure you fill in any holes or cracks before you paint. Any non-porous surface or laminate must be sanded first using a medium 80-120 grit sandpaper before application. After sanding, remove all dust with a clean dry cloth.

Tape off any areas you don't wish to paint. Cover all floors to prevent drips on floor or carpet. Prime the surface with PVA interior latex primer. You should not be able to see any of the original surface color.  after primer is dry, mix the dry erase paint and pour into a paint pan. Use a white foam roller to apply the paint to the wall. Use a foam brush for the corners if necesary. You only have an hour of open time to paint once the paint is mixed.

Make sure the room is well ventilated. Paint in thin, even layers of coverage. If you find pinholes it means that you did not apply enough paint. If you are getting paint drips you are applying too much paint. Be sure to inspect as you go. Work in two to three foot sections maintaining a wet edge as paint cannot be rerolled and must be applied in one coat.

Warning:

  • Make sure you are working in a well ventilated room.
  • Don't go back to retouch areas as it will result in roller marks.
  • Paint will dry in a few hours, but is not ready for use for 7 days!

Viola! You now have a great new space that will work well in your home or work office or kid's room.

* For club owners, why not use this in the bathroom and let people write all over the walls with dry erase markers you supply?
