You can start on this art form just as a simple hobby but gradually with experience and practice you will be able to take fabric painting on as a profession. There is a great demand for this type of painting in the international market nowadays. I seek to share with you readers more about this emerging trend of painting through this article.

Fabric painting does not require one to be an expert on painting, but you need to know the basics quite well to do them in a proper manner. You will be able to transform your creative ideas quite easily onto anything like t-shirts, curtains, cushion covers and upholstery. You need to know how to mix colors and how to apply them on cloth by the application of heat without damaging the cloth material. There is a wide range of fabric painting that is practiced all over the world. They include batik painting, Siberia and dyeing.

  • Of all the other forms of fabric painting, dyeing is the simplest one. It involves dipping a piece of cloth into a dye to get a desired result. However, one does not need to dip the whole cloth material into the dye. You just need to tie some parts of the cloth and dip them into dyes to create some great designs on the cloth.

  • Another quite popular form of fabric painting is the one called batik painting. In these particular process people are seen to use a blend of wax and dye for creating the designs. This form of fabric painting is native to Java. The process involved in batik painting is a bit complicated. First, the cloth is treated with wax, and thereafter it is dipped into the dye. Once this is done, the wax on the cloth is then removed.

  • Siberia, which is a form of fabric painting that is practiced in Japan, requires the people to follow a series of various complicated processes. However, the result is always mesmerizing and is thus worth the complications.

You can do fabric painting on your own and the basic steps are quite easy to follow. You need to be armed with a good collection of fabric paints to start with. Before you start painting on any particular cloth material, you should try to test whether it is suitable for fabric painting. There are some materials that are found to soak too much paint, and they will not give the desired result you would like to have with your painting. You should also keep in mind that while ironing you should not place the iron directly on the paint. If you do so there are high chances that your designs will get damaged and all your hard work will go down in waste.

Try to gather as much information as you can from the market before you decide to try your flair for fabric painting.
