This is a great craft for children for school craft projects or scouts, especially when teaching children about outer space. Recycle your plastic milk jugs and turn them into a fun and easy to make astronaut costume for kids with items you already have around the house.

Supplies needed:

duct tape
scissors
2 milk jugs
1 large brown grocery bag
yarn or string
markers
flag stickers or anything you would like to use to decorate your astronaut costume

Directions:

Oxygen tanks-

1. Cut two lengths of yarn or string large enough to go over the shoulders of the child. These

will become the shoulder straps for your oxygen tanks. You may need to loop them around twice for

added strength for each piece of string or yarn. Tie both ends together so they make a big loop.

Set aside.

2. Place both milk jugs upside down on a table.

3. Take duct tape and cut 4 pieces of tape long enough to wrap all the way around the milk jugs

front to back.

4. Lay the tape on th table and set the two jug on top of the tape, so they are side by side.

Wrap the tape all the way around the two jugs.

5. Lay the yarn or string on the jugs, one on each jug. Cut two pieces of tape long enough to

hold each piece of sting or yarn in place.

6. Allow each child to decorate their oxygen tanks with USA symbols, flag sickers and their name.

Astronaut Helmet-

1.  Take your brown paper bag and cut a big hole in the front, it could be a square or round

hole. Make it large enough so their whole face is showing.

2. Have each child decorate their helmet writing USA, flag stickers, their name or as they like.
